Creativity, Contemplation, Connection - Sundays, 5 p.m.

Worship at the First Presbyterian Church of Waltham can be as diverse as the people who participate in it. We believe there are many ways to praise God and we make use of a variety of traditions in our services, allowing everyone an opportunity to connect with God. One Sunday we might follow a more traditional Reformed liturgy with a focus on preaching while the next we might dedicate a service to singing meditative Taize chants. One week we might celebrate the global church with vibrant singing of world music and another might find us sitting in silent prayer together.
No matter what styles we use to approach God, each and every Sunday we seek to offer an authentic and inclusive experience that encourages the sincere worship of God and the proclamation of God's love through Christ and scripture.
Worship is at 5 p.m. each Sunday in the sanctuary. The service is preceded by a casual fellowship hour beginning at 4 p.m. in the parlor featuring fair-trade coffee, tea and snacks. All are welcome to drop in, relax and meet others. On the first Sunday of the month, worship is followed by a community dinner, usually soup and bread, and an extended and more intentional time of being together.
Here is some further information that might be helpful to you in planning your visit to FPC:
Children: Children are an integral part of the worship and fellowship life of FPC. For that reason, we seek to provide age-appropriate opportunities for learning about and experiencing God and participating in the life of our church. On Sundays, most families choose for children to attend worship with the adults through the "Sacred Space for Children" moment and then attend Sunday School. Our Sunday School class is all ages, and our curriculum, "The Whole People of God," seeks to teach our children of the radical and inclusive love of God. The children typically return to the sanctuary at the end of worship for the celebration of communion. Because we recognize that all children are different and have different levels of interest and comfort in various settings, children are always welcome to remain in worship for the duration.
Accessibility: The body of Christ represents many kinds of abilities and forms. We believe all of them should be able to participate in corporate worship together. Our sanctuary, gallery and parlor are handicapped accessible via the ramp at the East end of our building. If you have specific needs that you would like to discuss before visiting us, please be in touch with us by phone or email.
Inclement Weather: Whenever the City of Waltham declares a snow emergency no parking is permitted on any city streets within Waltham. Therefore, for the safety of all our congregants and the convenience of our neighbors and city workers, we will cancel worship services for as long as the emergency is in effect. Worship service cancellations will be listed here, but you can also find out if there is a snow emergency by visiting the website for the City of Waltham at www.city.waltham.ma.us.
Take care and stay safe!
